This project combines a typical municipal hydro substation and an control centre and data colocation facility for the local hydro utility. The building is designed to meet post-disaster performance requirements, incorporating dry fire suppression systems for the data centre and providing the option for uninterrupted 24/7 occupancy and continuous operation during emergency conditions. The architectural design integrates sound-absorbing concrete masonry units and Nudura insulated concrete form (ICF) walls, unified with a brick and stone exterior to create a restrained, unobtrusive building that blends seamlessly into the surrounding commercial neighbourhood.
